Why Costa Rica?
Culture & People: Costa Ricans or “Ticos” are some of the happiest people on the planet you will ever encounter through their hospitality, warmness, and genuinity. It is portrayed through their overall “pura vida” attitude, which means “pure life”. It is a contagious positivity that can be especially seen in our partnered therapists. Just over the course of three weeks, our interns develop close bonds with our therapists and are frequently invited to return anytime to be their guest in Costa Rica.
Natural Beauty: It is no secret that Costa Rica is world famous for its natural beauty, representing 5% of the world’s biodiversity. It has more than 800 miles of stunning tropical beaches on both the Pacific and Carribean Coasts. Also, Costa Rica offers breathtaking mountain views and 5 active volcanoes to visit. Like animals? In Costa Rica, it is likely to see incredible species such as sloths, monkeys, turtles, and of course, toucans.
Adventure: Beyond just looking at the beauty of Costa Rica, you can experience it! Costa Rica has no shortage of adventure activities that are sure to get your adrenaline pumping. In many locations you can find zip lining, waterfall jumping, cave diving, horseback riding, 4x4 tours, bungee jumping, surfing, kayaking, and more!
Food: Like every other culture, Costa Rica offers a unique, delicious cuisine to experience. Many of the traditional dishes contain rice and beans like Gallo Pinto, or fish, like Costa Rican ceviche. Ticos are also known worldwide for producing some of the best chocolate and coffee. And look no further for the freshest fruit and juices you have ever tried!
Cartago, Costa Rica
Costa Rica blooms with history and breathtaking volcanic mountains which are sought out by most tourists. Cartago is a lively city located at the heart of the Central Valley at the foot of Irazu Volcano. The mountainous city is filled with breathtaking views, fascinating history, and rich culture. While still very accessible to San Jose, Cartago provides a more relaxed and safe place away from the commotion of the capital while still offering a myriad of things to do and see.
